Basically thia movie is Hindi romantic movie which is made based on the love story of Maratha pashwa Baji Rao l with his second wife Mastani.

Ranveer singh play character of Bajirao and Deepika padukone as Mastani. Bajir Rao I is a warrior and second Pashwa of Maratha Empire, from 1720 until his death. And Deepika Padukone is Mastani who is second wife of Baji Rao. Besides Priyanka chopra play character as Kashabali who is first wife of BajiRao.
